Welcome everyone. We have quite the task before us and we're sure to have a terrible time of it if we don't start from an organised state.

My suggestion would be that we create 6 specialised discussion areas dedicated to the five major treaties (Versailles, Saint-Germain, Trianon, Neuilly, and Sevres) as well as one for the prospective League of Nations.

That way all discussions are filtered into their appropriate place of discussion and we don't end up debating everything all at the same time.

Any discussions about matters not associated with those six topics could be brought up here in our main area.

I would also suggest that all treaty suggestions made should be raised as proposed changes to the provisional treaties (i.e. the treaties as they were actually signed in real life) so that we aren't drawing up the 100s of treaty clauses from scratch.

Would people agree that this seems like a reasonable approach to take?

The delegation from the noble Kingdom of Romania would have suggested the exact same organisational framework, we're grateful for the United Kingdom taking a leading role.

Should there be a brief summary of the premises of each treaty in each subforum? Or should we trust that every nation is capable and willing to research it themselves?

The delegation from the Kingdom of Italy don't have any opposition towards such organizations

Then it comes to who will summarise each treaty reliably :shifty:

(I would be happy to take it up. But tbh I'm sure Wikipedia offers a summary of the major points of each treaty)

France would also suggest creating an area dedicated to discussing creation and boundaries of the new Arab state(s).

I think that would be fine to occur in discussion of the Treaty of Sevres (the one about the Ottoman Empire). Would you prefer it have its own place of discussion?

Yes, since it is a separate issue that involves different countries

When the sub-forums for the different treaties are created, Romania is willing to summarise the Treaty of Trianon (affecting Hungary) and the Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine (affecting Bulgaria).

Should there also be a thread for entente members which have disputes with other entente members?

Edit: And so should we start creating the treaty threads or wait?

Just floating an idea to hear what those present at the Conference think of it. When we get the areas set up for discussion of the Treaties, do delegates think that all delegates should be free to comment as much as they wish to in any of the Treaty discussions?

I just ask as this will be a tremendously large undertaking for the Conference and having everyone free to speak everywhere may cause some issues. For example I would say nations such as China, Siam or even Belgium (just purely being used for this example) don't have anything to do with the war against Bulgaria that was centred in the Balkans. Of course we can hope that the delegates of those countries use their knowledge of the situation to understand that their views are not all that relevant to the Treaty of Neuilly.

Of course nations such as Belgium should, the Romanian delegation believes, have free reign to comment on any and all treaties as they have suffered so much and played a pivotal role in the war, alongside the Big 5 and other key nations who were impacted by all of the Central Powers in one way or another.

Just a simple thought, I don't yet necessarily think it's a good idea either. Might just do that little bit to aid us in keeping threads on topic and relevant to contributing and resolving the final treaties to be signed and ratified.
