Proposal for Supporting the Education Services of the Arab Republic of Egypt

The Arab Republic of Egypt seeks the assistance of UNESCO during the ongoing transitional phase. Already, massive strides in the liberalization of the economy and improvement of its international reputation have been made. The next step comes with an investment in the education services of the country in order to open up opportunities for the Egyptian people to foster greater cultural understanding and enlightenment.

While the Egyptian government already has plans for the expansion of technical education in the fields of applied learning and sciences, this resolution asks aid for establishing similar programs in the fields of arts and social studies.

Motions will be put to a vote at the start of November and that vote will close at the end of november.

You may still put motions to a vote after the vote has started but they will all end at the same time.

Ok, we have four motions on which to vote, three motions in total may pass. Countries may still submit motions.

Voting will close at 10pm UTC on May 24th.

Motion 1 from the ANC.

This will be a motion for education boosting in South Africa.

QUOTE
Proposal to form the Unesco International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa

The ANC would like to put a proposal to form the International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), we recommend the city of Johannesburg to host this new agency.

The mission statement is thus:

    To address the educational, technical and professional needs of Africa in teacher development, school leadership and management;
    To bring to African institutions the latest research and development in education globally;
    To enhance the capacity of Africa’s teacher education institutions;
    To further the use of technological improvements in teacher development, such as the use of the electronic media in teacher education;
    To mainstream gender equality in teacher development; and
    To enable African education to benefit from work done by our partners by providing a forum for sharing experiences in the above areas.

South Africa would benefit from this in many ways, it would help to fix the bantu educational system which has attempted to destroy the literate black. Black teachers in South Africa are scarce, properly trained and educated ones even more so. This legislation would help not only South Africa but all of Africa, it would give to each South African boy or girl the hope that they may make more of their lives, that they may be lawyers, doctors, or engineers, that they may drive their country towards a prosperous future where before they lacked the resources.

Motion 1 from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This will be a cultural resolution.

QUOTE

The Islamic Republic of Iran also presents a proposal to UNESCO to pass a cultural resolution on our nation.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a nation rich in history. While many people know of our history as Persia, in reality, the name Iran has been used by native people since the dawn of our civilization. So what Westerners think of Persia is Iran. Iran is Persia, and Persia is Iran. Fortunately, we all use our native name of Iran now, but Persia and everything that is Persian is Iranian.

We are a nation rich in history. We are a nation, however, recovering from war. We had a long, 8 year fight with Saddam Hussein, and finally, peace and democracy are being brought to Iraq, with the conclusion of free and fair elections. We are a nation that, also freshly democratic since the overthrow of the tyrannical government of the Shah in 1979, is rebuilding as well.

That is why we ask this conference to support a resolution supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran. This will help show how Iran is making a positive contribution to the world, and how we are opening as a society. We are improving relations with countries West and East, and we believe that resolutions like this can deepen ties.

Motion 2 from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This will be an education resolution.

QUOTE
Proposal to support education within the Islamic Republic of Iran

DECLARING that the need for the improvement of educational facilities is dire, and

UNDERSTANDING that the literacy rate within Iran is under 70%, seriously harming the country's potential to move forward, and

UNDERSTANDING that improving literacy rates within Iran for both children and adults will be mutually beneficial for all involved, and

RESOLVING to support Iranian efforts and initiatives to improve education facilities and literacy rates within the Islamic Republic of Iran

Motion 1 from the Arab Republic of Egypt.
